Hayley’s eyes opened slowly and she found herself sleeping, with her head on her desk.
She looked around, there was a storm outside, the rain was hitting the whole city.
“Oh my God…” she started grabbing all the papers with hurry, standing up and walking toward her colleagues.
Ryan turned to her direction, smirking
“You know, that accent of yours is a whole lot thicker when you’re dreaming” the ones around chuckled and Hayley sighed tiredly
“All right, how come y’all let me sleep?”
“Oh calm down, it was 5 minutes”
Hayley looked at him, a worried expression on her face “What did I say?”
Before Ryan could open his mouth, Antony anticipated him, although he was concentrated in fixing a dress from a model
“That we're all getting big, fat raises when you become somebody.”
Everyone laughed and Hayley rolled her eyes, smirking
“Oh, did they kill Badgley Mishka?” Ryan said, and Hayley gave him an amused glance while everyone burst out laughing
“Okay, laugh now, but tomorrow it could be us”
Just before she could turn completely on the opposite direction, Pan stepped in front of her with a cup of coffee, readily correcting her sentence
“Not us, you… and I just make the coffee” she said, smiling and handing it to her.
Hayley smirked, grateful
“See you at the show!”
“Bye Hayley” some said while exiting the building the morning after.
They had worked hard the whole night for Hayley’s first and most important Fashion Show.
It needed to be perfect, it would have turned up their career completely, and everyone believed in her.
She walked to her apartment and gasped as she saw what was there.
A lot of petals laid on the floor and there were bunches of colorful roses everywhere.
She went to the telephone and put the answering machine on, still amazed from the view and the lovely smell that was floating in the air.
“There's a rose for every moment I thought of you last night. God, you must be exhausted. Listen, knock 'em dead. I'll see you at the show, it’s gonna be great. I love you. I can't wait to see you. Goodbye.”
Hayley bit her lower lip, smiling to his words.
He simply couldn’t be more perfect.
That night seemed to arrive in a blink of an eye, and Hayley found herself running anywhere in the models’ dressing tent
“Okay people, we’re officially late” she said, while walking hurried with a lot of clothes grabbed in her arm.
Pan walked toward her with one of the models
“This top is supposed to be neon aubergine, but it's all wrong! It's all wrong!” she cried, panicking.
Hayley passed an hand through her hair
“Okay okay, don’t panic, that’s my job”
She closed her eyes, thinking deeply
“Mhh… okay, just put her on after Sarah, the third light cue is yellow, she'll look eggplant… oh, alright, Pan” she said, stopping and looking at her
“the reason it's all wrong is it's on backwards”
Hayley turned away again,
but someone stopped her once more
“Ooh, Miss Vixen, I'm scared of you”
an effeminate voice said, making Hayley smile
“Frederick, what are you doing here? You're the competition”
He walked toward her, smirking amused from her sentence
“Competition? Please! Our design's for plumes and pearls, and nothing is going to come between me and my protege. And this is, after all, all about me.”
Hayley sighed, glancing at him
“Then why do I feel like I'm in Times Square buck naked?”
Frederick took her hands, trying to reassure her
“Baby doll, you're gonna be just fine. Five years ago, you were this little debutante off the plantation, and now you're my steel magnolia... with her very own show”
Hayley smiled “Okay, get out of here before you make me cry”
He nodded, kissing quickly her cheeks “Alright… Bonne chance!”
They were just ready to start, Hayley was making the latest fixing at the dress, before the little television with the live streaming of the carpet caught her attention.
“So, Secretary Gilbert, do you have a moment for a few questions? Are you excited about the show?”
Hayley smiled, for Chad it was so usual to got interviewed or filmed, and he couldn’t seem more handsome.
She didn’t even notice when Clare went next to her
“Please, tell me he has a flaw somewhere”
“He asked me to go to Ireland for Christmas” Hayley giggled, glancing at her friend.
“Well, he’s gonna ask you a lot more than that” she said, an amused smile on her lips.
Hayley frowned at her sentence, biting her lip “You think so?”
Clare nodded, but before the two of them could go any further with their conversation, a voice took their attention, telling that they were about to start.
Seeing “Hayley Swann” everywhere made her heart melt, she still couldn’t believe it was finally happening.
The first models started walking on the platform; they were wearing her dresses.
It was so unbelievable, Hayley had to pinch her arm to realize it wasn’t a dream, not anymore.
As it all was ended, the crew and the guests were having their celebrative party for the well gone event, and suddenly in the crowd Hayley recognized a very familiar face.
“Honey!” she squealed, running toward him and jumping into his arms
Hayley looked into his eyes, smiling “You're amazing. Those flowers were insane.”
Chad nodded, a smirk printed on his lips “Oh well, I just want this day to be perfect”
“But honey, what if they hate me?”
He sighed, grabbing her shoulders “They're critics, Hayles, they hate themselves”
Hayley chuckled softly “That’s easy for you to say, I wasn't born with that thick Gilbert skin”
“No, you weren't, and that is what I love about you.” He said, before placing his hands on her cheeks and leaving a smooth kiss on her lips.
“Alright, I have to go, I got a meeting in the Bronx. But you go and enjoy, and I'll see you later. Okay? Oh, and, hey, we've got that thing tonight at Lincoln Center”
Hayley frowned at him
She nodded, remembering “Right, the thing... with your mother. That's tonight”
“I’m afraid so”
Hayley forced a smile, trying to seem happy about it
Chad placed a kiss on her cheek, smiling
“I’m so proud of you”
“Thanks” she giggled, a smirk still on her lips, she felt so lucky to have him by her side
“I love you”
“Love you, too” he said, quickly kissing her once more, for then disappearing in the crowd.
I can't believe it! That's what happens when you're so much into a new fan fic.
